I just heard something about this today. I think the problem is that if a person is an alcoholic aand wants to quit and just stops drinking completly, the sympotms of the withdraw are so severe that it can be very dangerous, the body I guess needs the alcohol to relieve those symptoms, that is why I believe it would be best to do it slowly by reducing the amount of alcohol in the system.
ReplyDeleteThis topic seems most prevalent to college students. I like how you included the long term effects of alcoholism. I was confused by the video and the solution. I guess because I have never struggled with alcoholism I would not be able to understand it. I guess the economic view makes sense but ethically I can't say that I can totally agree with it. But, I appreciate that you provided a different view for me to ponder!
ReplyDeleteThis is not a bad idea. I mean some people may argue that how are you helping them by providing them with money to buy alcohol, but it is economical. It is better then them being out in the streets. At least they are provided with food and shelter and not in harms way. Just like the video, a person can eventually become sober just like the man in the video that had been sober for 18 months. This was a very interesting topic and I enjoyed the video.
